music by eWater

JBA Consulting in partnership with eWater is pleased to launch in the UK and Ireland the SuDS water quality and water balance software package – music

music was developed to tackle stormwater management issues in Australia in 2002. With 10 million dollars of world leading SuDS research captured in it, it is one of the few software tools that can accurately simulate real-time SuDS, making it easier to design and deliver urban development proposals that meet sustainable stormwater standards.

music can model a wide range of SuDS treatment devices to find the best way to capture stormwater runoff, remove its contaminants, and reduce the frequency of runoff. music helps to evaluate treatment devices until the best combination of cost, water quantity and water quality improvement has been achieved.

Application

Stormwater runoff is a major carrier of urban pollutants (roads, car parks, industrial sites etc). music aids decision making. It enables users to evaluate the effectiveness of alternative designs of stormwater management systems and their ability to meet specified water quanity and qualtity objectives. It is easy to use and in many jurisdictions in Australia is the mandated tool for stormwater compliance in the development approval process. music can model with equal ease SuDS for new development and as a retro fit in existing urban areas.

music is able to generate runoff and pollutant loads from a wide range of land uses, impacting the health of watercourses. It evaluates physical measures and policy instruments to address pollution loads in order to comply with the Water Framework Directive (WFD); it will also help in understanding the long-term influences that these measures will have on habitat.

Flood risk management objectives for new and existing developments can be effectively achieved using music to represent a wide range of SuDS and source control and optimise the combination of components within the drainage system.

Users

Practitioners and regulators involved in the fields of catchment management, urban planning design, urban hydrology, land use planning, landscape design, environmental design, and asset life cycle economics apply music to deliver cost effective solutions which meet increasingly stringent stormwater standards.

Research Underpinning music

music was developed by eWater CRC in association with BMT WBM and Monash University, Australia. Its development in modular form over the last 10 years has allowed the latest technologies and research to be incorporated readily. eWater continues to refine music’s capabilities as research develops, both locally and globally.
